34th Annual CAZA Conference September 30 to October 3
2009 CAZA Conference: "Changing Point"
The 34th annual conference of the Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums will be
held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada from September 30 to October 3, 2009.
The theme of the 2009 CAZA Conference is "Changing Point" - that indefinable
moment between success and failure. It is the moment when the universe changes for
the better or worse. We believe each of us has a moral obligation to be that "changing
point" in the lives of individuals, our neighbourhoods and our communities. Zoos are at
a changing point with respect to animal care standards and conservation efforts. This
theme presents an opportunity to explore the social, environmental and technological
changes that affect the zoo community and how to embrace those changes in the
service of continual improvement.
The conference will be located at Fantasyland Hotel in West Edmonton Mall - the
largest shopping and entertainment centre in North America. Home to almost one
million residents, Edmonton is a culturally vibrant city and an intriguing vacation
destination.
